The Story Behind
Mama Knots Macramé

Mama Knots Macramé was created by me, Lauren Sanders in January 2023. I am a wife and mama of two boys, living in South Louisiana, USA. Since I discovered and taught myself macramé, I have been knotting and creating with an immense amount of love and passion, and I aspire to share my craft with everyone that I can reach in hopes that it'll bring you just as much joy as I found in creating it.

Why "Mama Knots Macramé", might you ask?

I chose my business name not only because I'm a mama to two boys, but macramé is what I do to "escape" being a mama. When the days are long, when the to-do list is longer, and I grow weary from all the tasks required of me as a parent, mama knots. When I'm anxious, sad, scattered, or feeling unfulfilled, mama knots. When I'm having a bad mental health day and everything feels overwhelming, mama knots.

Making my crafts is what centers and calms me.

The methodical patterns, the repetitive knotting, the working of my hands, the satisfaction of seeing my craft appear before my eyes as I weave the cord in and out, gives me a purpose besides that long to-do list and those daily monotonous household tasks required of me. It gives me an identity and a purpose besides being a mom. Macramé not only gives me only a hobby; it gives me peace.

When I am not tying knots, I have a passion for photography, mental health advocacy, psychology, reading, and various other craft projects. I love spending time with my family and creating memories by traveling and experiencing new adventures with them. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Nicholls State University in 2015, and I have been working full time in the mental health and non-profit sector ever since. I also have an Etsy shop, called New Nave Narrative, where I create custom forms, spreadsheets, planners, graphics, and more!

All of my macramé projects are my "favorites" to do, but I especially enjoy working on custom projects and bringing your ideas to life. If you're interested in a custom macramé item, please reach out to me so we can discuss!
